Has anyone heard of this microsoft voice command? Is it usable for blind people? My gall, it looks like it is only $40 and for PDA's and maybe smartphones. What do y'all think? So far I can't find a sample.
Wow. I think I've heard of it before, and maybe I should've looked more into it, as I'm buying a different software where I would be able to dictate things I would read from other sources to my computer. Now I'm going to see what that program your talking about is about, as I really don't know myself how accessible it is for blind people. I think I've heard of the program your talking about, that it's used with PDA's, and I believe the Access World website had an article on it. When I find it I'll post the address here.
OK. Found it. Actually, it has about the Voice Command thing as well as another program, but this should help some. *smiles* The address is, http://www.afb.org/afbpress/pub.asp?DocID=aw060308
Voice command is a program for PDA's and my associate uses it. Thanks for posting the link. I don't know how much it lets a person do but it seems to be quite popular. Also Mobile speak pocket is a screen reader for PDA's. It can be found by going to
www.codefactory.es
I use it and it's pretty good.
The voice command thing looks pretty cool, but there are definite limitations. Sort of a bummer. How good is mobile speak? It's flippin' expensive! Is it different than talks? Aside from it going on PDA's and smartphones.
Talks doesn't make a screen reader for PDA'S. It is just for symbian series phones. Mobile speak primarily is concentrating most of there developement on the pda and smartphone screen readers. It's actually quite good. I cary my Dell X51V with a bluetooth keyboard and can look up my schedules and contacts, play things using the windows media player and type documents. Nice and small.
